Chatting to Jamie Carruthers – MTB Trail Hub

Mtb Trail Hub Is A Mountain Bike Holiday & Media Company Giving You An Insight Into The World Of Mtb Trails. From inspirational photos on social media to videos on Youtube showing you all the cool spots. This is the guy to help plan your next biking holiday!

We spoke to Jamie a few months ago, so sorry for the delay in getting this up. But we hope you enjoy it anyway.

WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND MTB TRAIL HUB // WHERE DID IT COME FROM?

The inspiration behind it all is effectively a combination of four things which I enjoy, and the pursuit to achieve my dream life!

Back in 2018 I had a desperate need to create my own thing/business, but just had no idea what to do. I then literally wrote down a list of all my skills and things I enjoy doing and ended up with MTB Trail Hub.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LEARN AND ACHIEVE WHAT YOU NEEDED TO KNOW AND DO TO GET THIS OFF THE GROUND?

It took a solid 2 years of living and breathing Youtube (and social media) to gain an idea of the direction of the brand. Things are ever changing and there is still a tonne to learn.

It’s been strange to say the least.

YOU ARE KNOWN FOR YOUR YOUTUBE CONTENT –TELL US HOW THE YOUTUBE CHANNEL CAME ABOUT.

The Youtube channel is a place to share long form content. When I first started my channel there were lots of MTB channels but none that were doing Full Trail reviews. I saw a bit of a gap in the market and made my move!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE VIDEO THAT YOU HAVE CREATED SO FAR?

Favourite video is a tough one……. It’s got either be The Tignes edit , Sierra Navada or Saalbach.

CAN YOU LET US KNOW OF ANY UP-COMING PROJECTS THAT YOUR EXCITED ABOUT?

Yeah sure, the plan is to get a trip to South Wales ASAP for a 4/5 days to ride and film as many places as possible!

I also have the first ever ‘Trail Hub Trip’ lined up which will be going ahead in July at the Tweed Valley!

DO YOU HAVE A “BUCKET LIST” PROJECT YOU WANT TO WORK ON?

Absolutely, Whistler is high on the agenda! I spent a year there in 2013 so have a decent understanding of the trails there. I’d love to go back and make some videos to help out anyone who has it on their bucket list! (and ride from first till last lift of course)

WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE LOCATION TO RIDE (NOT NECESSARILY FAVOUIRTE TRAIL)?

My favourite location has got to be Les Gets I think, every time I drive up the hill, it fills me with happiness and smiles knowing what is ahead.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TRAIL YOU HAVE REVIEWED?

This has to be the Pro Line in Saalbach, all the footage came so easily because every feature was quite quirky and needed to be looked at first.

OK SO TALKING FAVOURITES, WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM LOCATION TO RIDE?

New Zealand would be the dream. A tour around NZ, followed by a flight to Whistler and then nip into Maderia on the way back!! hahaa

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE MTB BOOM DURING LOCKDOWN?

I think it’s bloody brilliant, the more the merrier I say! As I’m sure a lot of your readers already know mountain biking can help clear the mind on darker days, keep you in great shape and be bloody good fun!

WHAT DO YOU HOPE THE FUTURE HOLDS FOR MTB TRAIL HUB?

Lots more trail reviews from all over the UK and beyond. The plan is to keep delivering the trail guides on Youtube and help people discover new riding venues!

I am also building the ‘Trail Hub Trips’ part of the brand which will hopefully become the first choice for a mountain bike holiday. I’d love for both of these ventures to become a full time job one day.

ANYONE TO THANK? // SUPPORTERS?

I’d like to thank everyone who enjoys the videos and has shared them with friends.

I really do appreciate you.

If you’d like to help support MTB Trail Hub and you’re looking for a MTB Holiday then maybe consider joining me on one of the Trail Hub Trips.

WE ALWAYS LIKE OUR GUESTS TO DO THE SIGN OFF, SO ANY LAST WORDS?

Thanks for reading this far and thank you for the opportunity to feature on your website and socials.

A big thank you to Jamie for his insight in to his world and the brand, we look forward to following his progress and hopefully joining some trips in the future ourselves.
