Birthday Present Ideas For Mountain Bikers

Everyday Bearded MTBer 0

February is a month that most look forward to because the days get longer and for the love sick puppies out there, there's valentines day. Well it's also pretty special as my birthday is in February, and like every year I ask for mountain biking gear.

Now I am lucky my family is pretty clued up on my style and taste when it comes to mountain bike gifts, but I know for some that isn't the case. So hopefully I can help by giving listing some pretty inexpensive but good gifts.

Here’s my pick of the best birthday present ideas for the mountain biker in your life that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. As good responsible shoppers we like to support the local community so we will be shopping online at BotleyMTB and seeing what presents we can get for under £50 at the time of writing this on their website.

All items and prices are correct at time of writing.

GRIPS

I love a new pair of grips! If someone gets me a new pair of grips I am super happy! Even if mine are still in good condition, I will just know that if I ever need too I will have a fresh pair ready to go!

Arguably some people swear by a certain grip, so it might be worth doing some detective work to make buying some easier.

Price Range at BotleyMTB

Cheapest
DMR SECT GRIP – £9.00

Expensive
RENTHAL – KEVLAR LOCK TIGHT MTB GRIPS – £24.99

FLAT PEDALS

There are a large range of flat pedals for under £50, just like grips I love having a spare pair in case I need to swap them out and they make a great gift.

But again just like the grips some riders have a preference. But ultimately unless you get some small plastic ones with reflectors in, no rider will turn down a new set of pedals.

Price Range at BotleyMTB

Cheapest
DMR – V6 PEDALS (PLASTIC) – £18.00

Expensive
DMR VAULT MAG SL PEDALS – £179.00

My Choice for under £50.00

CLEANING & CARE PRODUCTS

Now this is where you can never go wrong, every rider loves some more cleaning or bike care products. I am a huge Muc-Off lover, I love the pink stuff! But there are lots of options around. From drivechain cleaners, brushes, wet lubes, dry lubes and more. This is an easy win for a biker pressie!

Price Range at BotleyMTB

Cheapest
MUC-OFF CLAW BRUSH – £5.99

Expensive
MUC-OFF DIRT BUCKET – £64.99

My Choice for under £50.00

CASUAL CLOTHING

Mountain bike riders tend to dress like they have never really grown up. Branded t-shirts, beenies, hats and more. Which means clothing is an easy option. As long as it has a bike brand on it we’ll love it.

Price Range at BotleyMTB

Cheapest
100% – RISE CUFF BEANIE HAT – £19.99

Expensive
ENDURA HUMMVEE WATERPROOF JACKET – £99.99

My Choice for under £50.00

GLOVES

I can never have to many gloves!

Just like the grips and pedals, knowing that I have a spare pair is great and I love getting gloves as gifts. As long as you roughly know if the person your getting them for has small or big hands you should be fine. I always have a spare pair of gloves in my riding bag for those just in case moments. Gloves are a great gift!

Price Range at BotleyMTB

Cheapest
ION – GLOVES SCRUB – £22.95

Expensive
ENDURA STRIKE WATERPROOF GLOVE – £39.99

My Choice for under £50.00

TOOLS

I have lost more tools than I have ever owned I am sure of it. The amount of multi-tools I have left on the trail side or pumps I have lost is shocking. So tools are always a winner in my book.

Price Range at BotleyMTB

Cheapest
LEZYNE POWER TYRE LEVERS – £4.00

Expensive
ICE TOOLZ – FLOOR PUMP – £29.95

My Choice for under £50.00

*There was plently more tools and gadets in store but they have not made their way on to the website yet*

HONOURABLE MENTIONS UNDER £30

There are lots more options too, so below are some of the honourable mentions and ideas and under £30!

A BIKE SERVICE

Bike services range in prices but a gift of a service can give your rider a push to get those creaking cranks sorted once and for all!

BotleyMTB charge £35 for their Bronze service package, £75 for their silver package and £135 for their gold service.

Call your local bike shop to book it in, or get workshop vouchers from the same place.

What ever you decide to get your rider we know they will be thankful as you have put thought and effort in to it. If all else fails just get them some funky riding socks, who doesn't love socks!
